International Snacks Reviews

Hey Peeps!

I hope your day has been going well! Today, I will be continuing on my reviews for the chocolate haul that I posted a couple weeks ago.

The first item I will be reviewing is the Chipita Cake Bar with Strawberry Filling. This is exactly what it sounds like. It is a vanilla cake with a strawberry filling inside and chocolate on the outside. The cake was a little dry. Nothing extraordinary, but it’s still satisfying if you’re craving something sweet! These are also really cheap! $0.50 each! Can’t beat that! 7/10!

2015-04-29 12.30.07

The second item I will be reviewing will be the Cadbury Flake. This is absolutely DIVINE! This is probably my favorite thing from the haul so far. I haven’t eaten everything yet, so I might have another favorite, but as of now, this is my FAVE! Everyone, please find a way to purchase this. Look in grocery markets, look online, ask a friend, but YOU HAVE to try this! The appearance of this particular chocolate isn’t very attractive, but when you bite into it, everything just melts in your mouth. The flake-y part of this chocolate is true to its nature in that the ribboned layers of chocolate create a dreamy experience in your mouth. So good! 10/10!

2015-04-29 12.29.28

The last item I will be reviewing is the Kinder Delice. I was really excited for this one because I saw milk on the cover of the package and you know how much I love milk 😉 ! All I can really say about this is that it reminds me a lot of a Hostess Ho Ho! It really is like that, but in a rectangle form! Chocolate on the outside and a cream-based filling on the inside. It’s moist and sweet. These are good, but not amazing! 8/10!

2015-04-29 12.29.41

I hope you guys enjoyed the continuation of these reviews for the international snacks and I hope to finish the rest later on! Don’t forget to like and follow for more reviews every Friday! Thanks for joining!

Sincerely,

Strawberry Turtle ❤

New Unboxing: Try the World

Cheerio, everyone!

I hope everyone’s week is coming down to a positive note! I am incredibly proud of myself because I am now getting used to posting every Friday, like I am supposed to 🙂 ! I am also super excited because I have another unboxing for you guys! This week’s unboxing will be from, as you can tell from the title of this post, Try the World!

If you guys don’t know, Try the World is a box subscription that is sent out once every two months. Each box is created with a theme of a country, such as France, Argentina, or Morocco and each box is curated by a celebrated chef, handpicking 6-7 delicacies of that country. The cost is $39/box if you go month-by-month ($39/1 box every two months), $35/box if you subscribe for 6 months ($105/3 boxes in the course of those months), or $33/box if you subscribe for 12 months ($198/6 boxes in the course of those months). This may seem a bit pricey, but I know they have recently lowered down their prices, which is really nice because I know that they used to be way more expensive than they are now. I also know that with the prices that you’re paying for, it’s guaranteed that everything is authentic and of good quality. It’s also super fun to open!

My box is a little different, however. I was offered a FREE trial box, and when I saw this offer in my email, I completely signed up right away, because who doesn’t like free things? From what I observed, everything in my box are food items that are sort of “leftovers” and are products that are going to expire soon. This also means that there is no particular theme for this box. I received a tracking number on April 30 and it came straight to my door on May 2, so that was an AMAZINGLY quick delivery, might I say! So enough with the blah blah, LET’S GET INTO THIS!

The first thing that stood out to me was the packaging! WOW! I have seen videos for Try the World and am always impressed by the mint colored box. Now that I actually get to see it and feel it in person, it just blows my mind as to how much care and attention to detail they put in creating the box.

IMG_8982

Inside, there were A LOT of brightly colored squiggles! Those are always fun to play with. Once I took the majority of the squiggles off, I was amazed at the amount of products I received! I got about 10 items, but a lot of them were doubled items, which you will see later. Also, this unboxing will not have reviews for the products since I have not tried them yet. Instead, I will be simply showing you what is inside!

IMG_8984IMG_8985

The first item that popped out to me was this Domaine des Vignes Whole Grain Mustard [Product of France]. I am someone who absolutely LOVES mustard, and I know that I will be getting a lot of uses for this. There’s also a smaller label on here that says All Natural, which is always a plus!

IMG_8986

The next item that I will be showing you is the Francesca Di Monte Red Pesto [Product of Italy]. Once again, Try the World must really know me well because I adore pesto! Any kind of pesto! This particular pesto is tomato-based and is gluten free and all natural.

IMG_8992

The third item is a little .2 fl oz packet of Urbani White Truffle Oil [Product of Italy]. This excited me so much because the first thing that came into my mind when I saw this item was truffle oil fries! I had some delicious ones in a French patisserie earlier in the year and they were so delicious! I know using the tiniest bit of truffle oil will go a long way, so this small packet is just perfect! I can’t wait to use it! It says it would be perfect to use on salads, meats, fish, and pasta.

IMG_8990

The next product is Henaff’s French Pork Pate de campagne [Product of France]. This really reminds me of SPAM. I actually like SPAM, but if I eat too much of it, I will a) get really bloated and b) almost throw up. But with just a little bit in between two slices of bread, it is definitely a quick pick-me-up lunch.

IMG_8988

Next are two individual packs of Rip van Wafels’ Amsterdam Wafels in Traditional and Cocoa Filled [Product of Holland/Made in Canada]. I know I have definitely had these before, and these were pretty good. Each waffle has some sort of filling inside it. The traditional has this kind of syrup-y type of filling in it while the cocoa one obviously has cocoa in it. The waffle itself is soft and chewy. The package even gives you instructions as to how to eat it in order to maximize the experience, which is super cute! It also says that the products have no artificial flavors, no trans fat, no high fructose corn syrup, and no preservatives.

IMG_8989

The next two items are from GuyLian and they are the Artisanal Belgian Chocolates [Product of Belgium]. Each pack comes with two pieces of “Luxuriously Rich & Creamy Belgian Chocolate Truffles with Signature Hazelnut Filling”. I am super excited to try these because I just love trying out different kinds of chocolates. I mean, just look at my post for my international chocolates haul 😉 .

IMG_8991

Finally, the last two items are Matcha Love Green: Sweetened and Unsweetened [Product of Japan]. I’m not really a green tea drinker, I’m more of a chai tea lover, but I will still give these a try. It says it is made with REAL Matcha, which is awesome. We don’t want any fake people here.

IMG_8987

So that is it! Those are all the 10 items in my Free Trial Try the World Box! This subscription box is definitely a must try! I personally, won’t be able to keep up with the payments, because it is a little too expensive for me, but it is something that I will be investing in to buy for at least two months in the future, especially if the box is themed with a country that I am especially interested in! So I hope that you guys will give Try the World a chance AT LEAST ONCE. If you are somebody who loves trying out new food, are interested in traveling, and like learning about different snacks and cuisines, this is the box for you! You guys will not regret it!

I hope to see you all next Friday for another post! Enjoy your weekend, and be safe!

Sincerely,

Strawberry Turtle ❤

APRIL: Love With Food Unboxing

Hello, Lovelies!

Today will be an unboxing post for Love With Food’s April box. This is my first box and I received this box weeks ago, but I didn’t have time to actually post this review on my blog :(.

But, hey, here’s the day! The Love With Food box is a unique box in that not only do you get relatively healthy snacks, but each box you get, they will donate a meal to a child in hunger, which is awesome if you ask me. The box itself costs $10 plus $2 shipping, making a total of $12 a month. My first box costed me only $2, since I used a coupon.

2015-04-18 11.47.42

This month’s theme was STARRY NIGHTS.

2015-04-18 11.48.13

The snacks that you get this month are:

  • Yum Earth Naturals Sour Beans
  • Oloves Basil and Garlic
  • Back to Nature Honey Graham Sticks
  • Vintage Italia Pasta Chips
  • Walkers Pure Butter Shortbread
  • Luna Mini: Lemon Zest
  • Wild Garden Hummus & Quinoa Chips
  • Mighty Leaf Tropical Green Tea
  • Love With Food STAR Magnet
  • Several Coupons and Offers

So you get a lot of stuff, right? YAY! I was pretty impressed with all the stuff I got! I will definitely want to purchase another box from Love With Food in the future, because first of all, I think it’s great that they provide a meal each time you get a box, and second of all, I get to be exposed to different brands and foods that I have never heard of, and you know me, I am an adventurous eater!

The Yum Earth Sour Beans were very interesting! I was expecting jelly beans in the packet, and they were! BUT they didn’t have that hard and thin candy coating, instead, these were simply covered in some type of sugar. I found myself munching on them in class! At first, the taste was a little odd to me; some of the flavors tasted like medicine, and the others sort of had a soapy after taste, if you know what I mean. But as I kept scuffing them down as my professor wasn’t looking, I thoroughly enjoyed them! 7/10!

2015-04-18 11.48.56

Those tangy Oloves! These were so different for me! The only olives that I have ever tried are the ones that you get on either Greek salads, or combination pizzas! But these olives are WAY different! They seem to have been in a sort of brine, if I am not mistaken, and they have flavors of basil and garlic, which is absolutely delicious! But these might have been way too tangy for me. Then again, I just popped them in my mouth, so that could have contributed to my disliking of it. In the future, I definitely would have chopped these little jewels up and tossed them into my salads. 6/10!

2015-04-18 11.49.09

The Honey Graham Sticks were nice and sweet! They were a lot like the honey teddy bear grahams that you get from the store, but a lot more wheat-y! It was pretty good, but I generally am not a fan of graham anything. I know, just call me a weirdo! But I never really liked graham crackers, graham cracker crusts, or even grahams that you use for s’mores! The texture just reminds me of cardboard too much! If you do like grahams, you’ll definitely enjoy these! 7/10!

2015-04-18 11.49.20

The Pasta Chips were delicious! I really liked these! The packaging reminded me a lot of the Sun Chips packaging. The chips lived up to their names, and definitely reminded me of a pasta sauce! They were nice and savory, and herb-y, my favorite! 9/10!

2015-04-18 11.49.31

I have already tried Walkers Shortbread from Trader Joes! I bought them once and they were OH SO BUTTERY! The only reason why I haven’t bought them in a while is because of the price. They can get a bit pricey! But back to the snacks, you get two pieces and these shortbread cookies are just melt in your mouth! They have a slightly flaky texture to them and they are just to die for! I could eat a whole pack from Trader Joes. Just hold on for 20 minutes while I take a quick trip to TJ’s! 9.5/10!

2015-04-18 11.49.45

Well, hello, I am back from buying some more Walkers Shortbread ;). Luna Bars are pretty delicious, but they are definitely not my go-to protein/snack bar. I personally love Quest and Macro Bars! This Luna Bar is really awesome, though, because lemon zest is my all time favorite flavor, and they are just great on-the-go snacks! 8/10!

2015-04-18 11.50.12

This probably has to be my favorite thing in this month’s box! That is the Wild Garden Hummus and Quinoa Chips, mainly the quinoa chips. You open the box and out comes a tube of hummus and a bag of quinoa chips. I tasted them separately and they were pretty good! I have had better hummus, and I typically like my hummus better when it is chilled. This hummus was just room temperature, obviously. I could’ve put it in the fridge for a couple of hours, but I didn’t think about it at the time. The quinoa chips are a whole different story! These were FREAKISHLY good! Wow! Whether it was by itself, or if I put in some hummus, it was delicious! The texture and flavor were on point, let me tell you. To me, it tasted like a cross between popcorn and a veggie chip. I know that sounds weird and maybe disgusting, but it tastes pretty good! So good, that I have been tracking these chips down everywhere in my local stores! No luck! I will definitely be purchasing a huge bag of these Wild Garden Quinoa Chips because they are turning into my currently favorite chips! Hummus = 7/10……..Quinoa = 10/10!

2015-04-18 11.50.22

Mighty Leaf Tropical Green Tea was refreshing! I love my teas iced, except for chai lattes! And so I made an iced tea with this and it was super refreshing! It was nice because it was pretty warm outside the day that I made it. I enjoyed it, but I think I’m gonna stick with my chai lattes! 7/10!

2015-04-18 11.48.43

The rest of things I received were a Love With Food Magnet shaped like a heart and also a bunch of coupons and promotions! I think this box is really awesome to receive! Even though it may seems that my scoring is slightly low for most, I really did like everything in the box! I usually ate these whenever I was in a hurry, so anything out of this box is completely useful and delicious! Go now and subscribe to Love With Food and #MunchOn!

2015-04-18 11.50.012015-04-18 11.51.13

I hope you guys enjoyed this unboxing! Please like and follow me for more reviews and hauls! Until next week!

International Snacks

Hello wonderful people!

2015-04-29 12.28.10

This week’s post is about snacks! Not just Cheetos or Hershey Kisses! International Brands such as Cadbury and Kinder Chocolates. I have always been wanting to do a snack haul like this and I have finally gotten into actually making one! I visited my local produce shop where they specialize in selling a lot of middle eastern products. I went into their candy section and found so many interesting candies and chocolates so I decided to buy some! I bought 7 items for around $14. I don’t think that’s bad at all! I purchased the following:

  • Kinder Happy Hippo
  • Kinder Delice
  • Kinder Chocolate
  • Cadbury Biscuit
  • Cadbury Flake
  • Chipita Cocoa Cake Bar
  • Choco Treasures

2015-04-29 12.29.03

Because I don’t want to eat them all in one day, I will be separating the reviews for each of these into different days.

The first item I will be reviewing will be the Kinder Chocolate. I have had these before, but it has been too long since I have eaten one! They are so delicious! Better than Hershey Chocolates, in my opinion. The pack comes with 8 bars of these heavenly chocolates.

2015-04-29 12.29.35

When you unwrap them from their individual foil paper, you’ll see that they are sectioned into  parts. I just ate the whole thing at once!

2015-04-29 12.39.442015-04-29 12.39.50

2015-04-29 12.40.02

When you take a bite, you’ll see that in the middle of each bar, there is a white filling, which is basically solidified sweetened milk, and it is soooo delicious. It just melts in your mouth, and it isn’t your typical chocolate bar! A+!

2015-04-29 12.40.38

The next and last item I will be reviewing today is the Kinder Happy Hippo. I have never had these before, so I am very excited to do so! The pack comes with 5 bars.

2015-04-29 12.29.57

What is so cute about the Kinder Happy Hippo Chocolate is that they really do look like hippos! The shape, the facial expressions, everything! When you take it out of the wrapper, you’ll find that a lot of the sprinkles attached to the hippo will fall right off! So be careful! You can also see the eyes and eyebrows painted on with, most likely, chocolate, and there are also indentations for the nose. Super Cute!

2015-04-29 12.47.032015-04-29 12.48.14

When I took a bite, boy was I surprised! I was expecting some sort of solid piece of chocolate inside, but no! Don’t think that! Inside is a ganache-type of chocolate, and it is smooth and silky! There’s also another layer underneath the chocolate ganache and it is probably identical to the milk filling from the regular Kinder Chocolate. The texture, which resembles a wafer, of the outside of the hippo is nice and crisp, adding a nice crunch for the two smooth fillings. A+!

2015-04-29 12.50.30

This is such a great and extra delicious bunch of Kinder Chocolates! Don’t forget to check back as I review the rest of these chocolates the rest of the week!

Thank you so much for reading today! If you liked this post, please give it a like! Don’t forget to follow me for more snack hauls, beauty hauls, lifestyle hauls, and reviews!

Ipsy Glam Bag: April 2015 – “Beautifully Bohemian”

Beautifully Bohemian is this month’s theme!

2015-04-13 22.48.47

This is actually my first #IpsyGlamBag and I am genuinely impressed! I love everything in my bag, although I would have really liked the Too Faced Melted Lipstick. Besides that, I can’t wait to let you guys know about all the goodies inside this boho bag!

If you guys don’t know what the Ipsy Glam Bag is, it is a monthly subscription that costs $10 a month for a uniquely-styled makeup bag alongside a variety of sample and sometimes even full-sized products. The products you receive are based off of a quiz that you take when you sign up; however, it does not mean you won’t get or that you will get a certain product that you checked/checked off on the quiz itself. I just wanted to let you guys know about this because many people have been getting disappointed recently about the products they have been receiving. Alongside receiving the Glam Bag, you can watch videos and tutorials on their website in order to find ideas as well as help in terms of creating your look based off of the items for that certain month. This month’s theme is “Beautifully Bohemian”.

2015-04-13 22.48.31

First off, I just want to express my amazement with the folder-type package. It’s very glitzy and PINK!

2015-04-13 22.47.03

Inside, I found a nicely crafted pouch and I was immediately intrigued by the pops of color that jumped off the beige surface. The texture feels very natural and stringy (if that makes any sense). The zipper is right at the top of the pouch, which is a PLUS! So far so good.

2015-04-13 23.30.21 2015-04-13 22.52.48

Looking further, I found 5 mini products:

  • Hey Honey Good Morning- Honey Silk Face Serum
  • Hikari Cosmetics Blush (Tango)
  • theBalm Cosmetics Nude Dude Eye Shadow (Fit)
  • Starlooks Satin Finish Lip Gloss (Cuddle)
  • Jo’rel Parker Femina

2015-04-13 22.52.11

Hey Honey Good Morning- Honey Silk Face Serum:

Although I haven’t used the product for my face, I can tell that from the way it feels on my fingertips that it is going to be a successful product. The texture is very silky (like it says) and it has a true texture of a serum. Once I rubbed it onto the back of my hand, the serum just melted into my skin. There was no stickiness and it felt pretty refreshing on the skin! I can’t wait to actually try it on tomorrow morning. I’ll be sure to give a brief review for you guys about it soon. ?/10 [have not fully tried it yet]

2015-04-13 23.12.47 2015-04-13 22.58.03

Hikari Cosmetics Blush (Tango):

Blush has always been one of my favorite products ever since I started wearing makeup in 10th grade. I feel that it instantly gives your face a pop of color that just makes you look alive and healthy. With the Hikari blush in the shade “Tango”, it gives you that perfect pink. This blush is highly pigmented and it is the most pigmented blush out of my collection (of 2 blushes: e.l.f/Maybelline). If you have lighter skin, you definitely want to use this product sparingly. Since I have a tanner complexion, I can get away with more than just 1 or 2 swipes on the cheek bones. 8/10

2015-04-13 22.53.102015-04-13 23.01.41

theBalm Cosmetics Nude Dude Eye Shadow (Fit):

I absolutely love this shade on my eyelids. The color is a mixture between taupe and bronze. I think it adds a nice shimmer to the eyes and I think it pairs well with brown eyes alongside all different types of skin tones. I can imagine myself using this as an all-over eyeshadow. The extremely small, yet cute size allows you to just throw it in a makeup bag and have it come with you during long or short travels. Because it is a complementing shade, it’s basically the perfect eyeshadow to bring with you anyway. 10/10

2015-04-13 22.54.48 2015-04-13 22.55.11

Starlooks Satin Finish Lip Gloss (Cuddle):

Can I just say the the name of this lip gloss shade is freakishly adorable? Super Cute! The lipgloss itself is pretty sheer. When I applied it on, my lips basically stayed the same shade. It does add a nice shimmer and shine to your lips, however. The texture seemed a bit sticky, but I personally don’t mind it because once you put it on, the name stays true to its name as the finish is definitely satin. 8/10

2015-04-13 23.26.382015-04-13 23.28.44

Jo’rel Parker Femina:

I love receiving mini perfumes (especially rollerball ones) from subscriptions. I know a lot of you don’t because you can easily access them at malls and what not, but hey, I’m still a fan. I adore this scent. I agree that it is 100% completely feminine and sophisticated. According to Ipsy’s website, it has notes of Meyer Lemon, White Grapefruit, Satsuma Mandarin, Summer Forsythia, Pink Plumeria, Wild Verbena, Tahitian Vanilla, and Sensual Musk. From that long list of notes, you would think that the perfume would be pretty citrusy (which was my guess before I got the package), but lo and behold! Tis not. The overall scent is very sweet and slightly fruit. It has a very pleasant smell and it really does linger on your body for quite some time. I’ll thoroughly enjoy this perfume! It’s going in my purse! 10/10

2015-04-13 22.56.222015-04-13 22.56.43

Thanks for joining in today! I hope you enjoyed this review/unboxing! Expect to see a review on the Hey Honey Good Morning Honey Silk Face Serum later on this week! Have an awesome day!

Sincerely,

Strawberry Turtle ❤

Back in Action + Influenster Campus VoxBox

Greetings everyone!

It has been a long while since I have blogged! Unfortunately, school does happen, and freshman year proved to be a tough one. But now that I am slightly getting used to all this work, I am getting back in the business of things!

PAST & CURRENT OBSESSIONS:

Movies/TV Shows

  • The Office (US)
  • The Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt (Netflix Original)
  • Whiplash (2014)
  • Birdman (2014)

Food

  • Eel/Unagi Nigiri
  • Chipotle

Box Subscriptions

  • Ipsy
  • Influenster
  • Fortune Cookie Soap Box
  • Boxycharm
  • Love With Food

Youtubers

  • Eleventhgorgeous
  • Nigahiga
  • Jenna Marbles
  • Kathleen Lights

That is a LONG list, isn’t it? Well that’s all I could think of at the top of my head. There’s plenty more, but I can definitely go on and on about why I love all of these things as well as add on to this epic. But as I have homework and other important priorities that I have to attend to, I have to make these entries pretty brief… UNTIL SUMMER!

The main thing I want to talk about today is the #CAMPUSVOXBOX by influenster! I have recently been into unboxings (watching them/subscribing to them). And I found out INFLUENSTER gives out free boxes to a selection of people. For their Campus Vox Box, I was surprisingly chosen! I am not sure of the process, but I guess if you fit the criteria based on the choices you picked for the survey they send you through email, then you’re getting a box! My box came in today and was ecstatic!

2015-04-13 16.05.36

The box itself is HUGE compared to most subscription boxes. Then again, this is a lifestyle box, not a beauty box, which is the majority of what I am currently subscribed to. Inside, I received 6 items; everything but the L’Oreal Paris Advanced Straight System was full-sized.

2015-04-13 15.34.51 2015-04-13 15.35.51

I would totally do full on reviews for y’all, but like I said, I don’t have that kind of time at the moment, so I will make brief ratings in terms of usefulness for me.

Sour Punch Candies = 8 [I will definitely inhale these, but then again, I am trying to improve my health, so it’s also a negative in the bunch…]

2015-04-13 15.36.25 2015-04-13 15.36.16

Soft Lips Cube = 10 [I LOVE chapstick! My lips get super chapped year-round (lucky me -.-) and this will definitely be of most help for me!]

2015-04-13 15.35.37

Jergens Instant Sunless Tanner = 3 [I’m already pretty tan (thank you parents) so I won’t be getting much use out of this product. I’ll try it on my legs though, since it’s pretty pale compared to the rest of my body.

2015-04-13 15.35.22

St. Ives Apricot Scrub = 10 [I am a scrub junkie and I absolutely LOVE skincare! I will get much uses out of this!]

2015-04-13 15.35.12

L’Oreal Paris Advanced Hair Care = 8 [This is an awesome product; however, it is a foil packet, and I would much rather have a full-size or even a travel-size version of it. ]

2015-04-13 15.36.40

Overall, I am stoked about Influenster’s Campus Vox Box and I hope to receive some more Vox Boxes in the future! Stay tuned for more posts this week!

Sincerely,

Strawberry Turtle ❤

Kohl’s Haul !

Hello, Bloggers!

Today I decided to experiment again on this post. For this post, I will be doing a haul from the department store, Kohl’s. If you don’t know what Kohl’s is, they basically sell anywhere from clothes and makeup to homeware and kitchen supplies. Because I am making a haul post, I decided to do something even bigger and also do a haul on my NEW YOUTUBE CHANNEL. Guys! I am starting a youtube channel! It is still in the making, so it is not ready to be seen in the public. I am currently uploading my first video on youtube right now and it is taking SO long. As of right now, my videos are definitely not high quality nor are they edited. They are simply taken with my iPhone 4s and uploaded to youtube after being converted to an MP4 file.

So if you’re around youtube, please watch/comment/like/subscribe to my channel, which will be revealed later in the week once my first video is uploaded.

Along to my haul!

I bought eight things today, ranging from jewelry to scarves to clothing items. I found there to be a major trend in terms of the brands I purchased. I definitely was in to Apt. 9 stuff as you will see down below…

photo 1 (23)

So the above products are:

  • Lauren Conrad Heart Bracelet
  • Lauren Conrad Bow Necklace
  • Apt. 9 Infinity Necklace
  • Apt. 9 Dream Maker Loop Scarf
  • Apt. 9 Floral & Stripe Loop Scarf
  • Apt. 9 Gerbera Pink Dress
  • Apt. 9 Vivid Mint Jumper
  • Apt. 9 Princess Blue Jumper

All of this totaled to about $35 with tax. Why so cheap? Well, it’s the clearance sections. I basically only shop in the clearance sections. I live, eat, and breathe the clearance section of any department store. When I shop on a day to day basis, I don’t buy anything over $10. In fact, everything I bought today were under $6. You might say that the quality is disgusting and they look cheap, but you know what, truth is, I most likely won’t wear any of these after one or two years, so spending all this won’t even bother me. But that’s just me 😛 I do find value in purchasing high quality items, but I’ll only do so right after I get paid from work 🙂

photo 2 (23)

As you can see, I love very bold and rich colors. I bought a few jumpers just because I am all ready for sweater weather! I cannot wait for fall and winter to come. They are definitely my favorite seasons. I know everyone LOVES summer and spring, but I am a winter/fall baby xx.

The jumpers I bought were very long on me and they could almost work as a very flowy but chunky dress. What I found was that these jumpers could work not only for at home when you need to feel snug and cozy, but you could also dress them up a bit and wear them with some cute black or white leggings. Each jumper was only $5! What a bargain! I really liked them because of not only their versatility but because of how soft and warm the material was. As for the dress, I really liked how simple yet intricate the design was. I feel like you could really dress it up with a bold necklace or just lay it casual with just a neutral pair of flats.

On to the jewelry, I bought three. Two Lauren Conrad’s and one Apt. 9. The Lauren Conrad’s are both rose gold, which I really like. I am OBSESSED with rose gold at the moment, so whenever I see one, I MUST have it O_O . It’s a bit of a problem. Each of the Lauren Conrad pieces were $4.20 each. As for the Apt. 9, one of my most favorite symbols would have to be the infinity sign. No, not because I have a fetish with limits >.> . I like them because they symbolize eternity, whether it represents your eternal love for a special someone or your family, I think it’s just a universal symbol that anyone could understand, which I find awesome. This little one was $1.80.

Happy Sunday! + Beauty Product Test/Review

Good afternoon, Bloggers and Happy Sunday! Sundays are nice to spend time with your family and just relax… Except when you’re a procrastinator like me and dedicate this time doing my homework. However, I am able to sneak in some time and post a review for you guys! Today’s review will be for the Revlon Colorstay Concealor (in the shade, medium).

photo 2 (22)

So be warned… I don’t have the most attractive face ever, so please just try to ignore the face you’re about to encounter >.<

First, I wash my face and I moisturize it with the Aveeno moisturizer around my mouth area, since that part usually gets dry whenever I apply makeup on. So, just a few little facts about my face… My face is generally a combination of oily and dry, but mostly oily, except for the area said above.

photo 1 (22) <<< I faced a window so I can use as much natural light as I could :3

I really wanted to find a concealor that could be used as a triple duty for 1) Covering blemishes/scars [I have a lot of them 😦 ] 2) Concealing dark circles around my eyes 3) Brightening my face [especially for those early morning events >.< ] , so at the bottom of this blog post, you will find ratings for each of these categories.

So, basically, anyone who has put on makeup knows that putting on concealor isn’t rocket science. The way I like to do it is to just put little dots around the area I want to conceal, as shown in the above picture. I then blend it in with my ring finger.

photo 3 (21)<<< I just finished applying the concealor around my undereye area.

As you can see, the concealor does a really good job with brightening my eye area so that is a plus!

photo 4 (21)

I then continue on to the rest of my face, putting dots on my blemishes and scars. Once again, I just dab the concealor until it is blended in well.

photo 5 (21)

Here is the final product after I finished applying all the concealor needed. I also, besides using my ring finger for blending, used my stippling brush to just make everything REALLY well blended.

My after thoughts about this product:

  • I really liked the concealor’s ability to brighten up my face in a flattering way, in my opinion.
  • It covered my blemishes pretty well
  • It doesn’t make my face cakey
  • The concealor is very light
  • Cheap (less than $8 at Target)

Cons:

  • The concealor doesn’t really cover up my dark circles, but I think it is great for a drugstore brand
  • This product kind of leaves my skin feeling a little bit oily, or that could just be my skin.

Ratings:

1) Cover blemishes: 8/10

2) Cover dark circles: 6/10

3) Brightening: 9/10

All in all, I think this concealor is awesome. If you need something cheap (I don’t have/use any high end brand makeup because I’m broke 😦 ] and easy to apply on, this is the product for you! Also, this is strictly just a tester for the Revlon Colorstay Concealor. I didn’t apply on any other makeup products, so you can just see the concealor for itself. Forget Taco Tuesdays! Arriba y Viva Flauta Friday!

Well, hello again 🙂 Two posts in one night?? I think yes.

ANDDDD! Another Taco Shop Review! This one is from Poway’s little chain restaurant —> Taco Shop. Yes, I know, what a creative name that is. 🙂 I go here whenever I am in the mood for some FLAUTAS. I think their flautas are the best ones I have EVER had in the 18 years of my life.

photo 2 (18)

I feel like, the cashiers know me so well, that all I have to do is walk up to the counter and they’ll already say “the usual 🙂 ?” Oh boy… When it gets that serious, it’s a sign of needing to tone it down a little…when you have time 😉

So, this amazing taco shop obviously serves a variety of authentic Mexican cuisine. You know, burritos, menudo, chilaquiles, tacos, rolled tacos, carne asada fries, and most importantly…. Flautas. I may be the only one that’s obsessed with their flautas but they are so dang good.

photo 2 (16)

When you dine in, ask them for some chips and they’ll give them to you (JUST AS LONG AS YOU DINE IN..) for free! And they have a salsa bar for the chips, and you can also get some free hot carrots while you wait for your food. I also usually get some cilantro to sprinkle on to my flautas.

Thennnn.. Here comes the flautas! AND THEY ARE HUGE!!! AFSJGSJGJGS!

photo 4 (17)

seriously though.. SO GOOD…. You need to try them! The outside is so light and crisp and you bite into it and the delicious tender shredded beef just fills your mouth while the hot juices of the meat drip down onto your plate O_O (sorry if that sounded sexual……….. ._.

photo 5 (16)

I think it’s pretty self-explanatory. They are delicious. And no one can stop me from ordering them. Although I should. I’ve eaten too many of them to call myself healthy.

The Infamous Rita’s in Sunny San Diego!

Hey guys! It’s Strawberry Turtle with your weekly report! Last week was so much fun! We went to Plaza Bonita, first of all, and then we headed off to Rita’s! If you guys don’t know, Rita’s is a really well known Frozen Custard/Italian Ice place within San Diego 🙂 Of course, Rita’s can be found in many other places, but when you’re in San Diego, come and GET IT!

IMG_3786

It’s my first time here and so I decided to join the boat 😉 . We went there around 8 at night (they close at 10) and there were SO MANY people O_O. I couldn’t blame them since it was a warm summer evening :->.

I got a regular Gelati with Blue Raspberry Italian Ice with their Vanilla Frozen Custard. OH MY GOODNESS. To. Die. For. I loved it! Although I must say, the interior was EXTREMELY cold, so after a couple of scoops eating inside the store, I couldn’t really enjoy it as much >.< . But if I ate it in a warmer place, boy oh boy would I have devoured it in seconds.

IMG_3790

Apparently, they have a lot of flavors, but I guess tonight didn’t have the ‘WOW’ flavors. My sister really wanted the Dulce Di Leche Italian Ice, but they didn’t have it! What I do remember are the Red Sour Patch, Mango, Blue Raspberry, and Alex’s Lemonade Flavors. And the Frozen Custard Flavors were just the plain ole’ Vanilla n Chocolate (swirl, swirl…swirl, swirl [get it??? Orange is the New Black reference ;D])

IMG_3787

All in all! I thought it was a pretty successful day with the family! I highly recommend Rita’s and I sure hope you all get to try it at least once because it really is delicious 🙂 . It’s definitely something I would go back for when I’m around the Chula Vista/Carlsbad area .
